Design and Simulation of CZTSSe-Based Solar Cell With ZnS as Novel Buffer Layer

Currently, CZTSSe-based thin-film solar cells are the most efficient ones on the market. In most of the solar cells, Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) material is used as a buffer layer.Since it have a toxic nature it is replaced with some other material.Wide band gap, non-toxic zinc sulphide (ZnS) has the potential to take the place of cadmium sulphide (CdS) as the buffer layer in CZTSSe-based solar cells.Using the simulator Scaps, we perform a simulation study of a CZTSSe-based solar cell with ZnS as a buffer layer.There is an increase in efficiency by replacing CdS with ZnS.The efficiency of CZTSSe based solar cell with CdS as a buffer layer is 11.90%. However ,the simulated efficiency of CZTSSe based solar cell with ZnS as the buffer layer is 14.01%.The impacts of layer parameters on the photovoltaic parameters of the ZnS/CZTSSe solar cell are optimized, including the thickness, donor and acceptor densities of the CZTSSe absorber and ZnS buffer layers enhancing the ZnS/CZTSSe solar cell’s performance.To discover the suitable thickness for the solar cell, the thickness of the CZTSSe as absorber layer and the ZnS as buffer layer are both varied.Solar cell with the proposed model results ,the formation of solar cell having higher conversion rate and low priced.
