Artificial Magnetic Conductor Based Multi Slotted Patch Antenna for Wireless Applications

The field of wireless communication for Internet of Things (IoT) medical applications necessitates low-profile antenna solutions. In this study, an Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) technology-based patch antenna was developed, featuring circular-shaped patches with circular slots and a dual-band 4 × 4 array of AMC surface. and resonating at a frequency of 5.3 GHz. Simulations indicated reflection coefficient values below -10 dB in 1.7–2.8 GHz and 5.2–5.4 GHz bands, with an impedance bandwidth of 48.8% and 3.77%, respectively, for the AMC integrated antenna. The proposed AMC surface complied with the WHO’s Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) criteria, with SAR values of 0.28 W/kg and 0.48 W/kg at 2.45 GHz and 5.3 GHz, respectively, and a maximum gain of 7.5dBi. The antenna and AMC structure design were well-suited for IoT-based healthcare systems, particularly ISM and WLAN applications.
