Influence on Real-Time Power Balance Control of Power Grid by High Proportion of Wind Energies under Extreme Weather

Under the extreme weather, the wind energies easily appear a large power outage. As the proportion of wind energies connected with the power grid increases, the difficulty of real-time power balance control (PBC) and the operating risk will dramatically increase under this condition. Hence, this paper explores the specific influence on the real-time PBC by high proportion of wind energies under extreme weather (including typhoon and icing). The power outage of wind energies is taken as a random power disturbance for the power grid. To mismatch this power outage, the real-time power balance control is implemented by automatic generation control and dispatch. The case studies are carried out on a extended two-area load frequency control under various proportions of wind energies.
