Automotive Radar Interference Mitigation by Subtraction of the Interference Component

Mutual interference has become one of the most important challenges for near-future automotive radar systems. This letter proposes a new mitigation scheme where the target information can be recovered even if a large number of samples are affected. The suggested approach considers that by proper adjustment or compensation of the interference signal, the clean target signal component can be retrieved after subtracting the compensated interference signal from the corrupted signal. The effectiveness of the mitigation approach is verified using simulations and measured radar data.
