Amorphous ${Si}O_{2-x}$ nanoparticles synthesized by pulsed plasma in liquid method

Silicon oxide (SiO
2
-x) nanoparticles (NPs) have various applications includes bioimaging, Li-ion secondary batteries, catalyst carriers, low-dielectric materials, supercapacitors and drug deliveries. In this work, silicon oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using a one-step process, the pulsed plasma in liquid method. X-ray diffraction pattern showed the production of amorphous silicon oxide. The synthetic silicon oxide nanoparticles showed strong photoluminescence at the excitation wavelengths of 220 nm. It is expected that silicon oxide NPs synthesized by this method have potential applications including quantum dots for bioimaging and nano-ink for patterning. Considering the simplicity of this method, this synthesis method has great potential for industrial applications.
