Theoretical Analysis and Model Design of a Sub-Terahertz Band Rectangular TE10to TE30 Mode Converter

In this paper, a novel waveguide structure for converting rectangular TE
10
mode to
$\text{TE}_{30}$
mode is presented. The mode converter mainly compromises an H-plane T - junction power divider and a mode exciting structure based on two coupling apertures. The theoretical analysis of the magnetic current sources is carried out to study the mode converting structure. Two types of mode converters with different feeding structures are presented for different application occasions. Simulation results show that they both have a bandwidth of at least 41 GHz, in which the transmission is higher than -1 dB and the reflection is lower than -15 dB.
