Detecting the Oxygen Saturation level and Heart Rate using MAX30100 Sensor

The objective of this proposed system is to measure the SpO2 (oxygen saturation level) in the blood and Heart Rate (HR). The oxygen saturation level in the blood is one of the vital parameters to detect sickle cell anemia in the human body. Until today, the methods for measuring oxygen saturation level in blood has limitation of being inaccurate under specific conditions, when compared to actual value. To overcome this issue, a MAX30100 pulse oximeter sensor is introduced in our proposed method. It contains two LEDs, one emitting red light, emitting infrared light, and a photodetector that is used to detect and measure the intensity of the received light. Through the photodiode, it is possible to detect the amount of light that penetrates the finger and passes through the blood. It transfers the signal to an analog-to-digital converter. The digital filter is used to separate the mixed signals after they have been disorted are restored. The restored signal is sent to an Arduino Uno board. An Arduino Uno is connected to an I2C 4-pin LCD display to display the output data, which measures the oxygen saturation level in the blood and heart rate.
