A Review of the Application of Machine Learning in Home Automation

The subject of smart homes and home automation is not new and with the increasing temps of AI development, it will only continue to evolve and expand. Evidence of that is the numerous articles and research on the topic. Regardless of how the automation is made, or what hardware components are used, what is common for many proposed systems, both DIY and professional, is that there are different ways to automate and enhance the effectiveness of such systems. Many researchers are considering the idea of using different algorithms for machine learning and artificial intelligence to observe the human behavior and make various predictions about the needs of the user, as well as to control the system based on classifications and rules. This article is an overview of several proposed systems for home automation with machine learning.
