Mitigating the effects of op-amp non-idealities by fractional order notch filter

Active integer order notch filters (IONF) are prefered over passive notch filters to obtain higher quality factors. For lower notch frequency $(\omega_{n})$ values the op-amps act ideal and do not affect the performance of the filter. However, if the required $\omega_{n}(1kHz\leq\omega_{n}\geq 5kHz)$ is large or very large $(\omega_{n}\geq 5kHz)$ then the effects of the non-idealities of the op-amps start to dominate the response of the filter that causes errors. In an IONF, there is no provisions to compensate these errors. This work would investigate the performance of a fractional order notch filter (FONF) in the presence of the non-idealities of the op-amps at higher frequency. The mentioned frequency range is mostly chosen for removing the noise from audio and video signals.
