SIW Filter Design based on Artificial Bee Colony Optimization

An optimal design of Substrate Integrated Waveguide dual band filter is presented in this article using the artificial bee colony Metaheuristic; the performance results are obtained using MATLAB programing language. Furthermore, Ansys HFSS software validates the dimensions acquired, demonstrating that two resonance peaks are available; first one occurs at 8.9GHz with reflection coefficient of -41dB and insertion loss -0.14dB, and second resonance occurs at 10GHz with a reflection coefficient of -41.9dB with insertion loss -0.2dB. Both resonances are given concentrated bandwidth: 0.15GHz and 0.3GHz respectively with an attenuation constant optimum around 0.42 dB/m. Designed filter meets the requirement of multiband and miniaturized components very demand in modern telecommunication systems
