Failure Behavior of notched carbon fiber reinforced Epoxy Laminates subjected to mechanical loading: Numerical approach

The main goal of this work is to approach the modelling of distinct progressive damage mechanisms and failure in carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composite laminates subjected to several mechanical loadings of the aeronautical environment. For this purpose, and as the analytical model is based on a fracture mechanics approach, a study of the different types of models existing in the literature is necessary. And as a contribution, a finite element model is built to assess the degradation of composite material properties under fatigue loading based on continuum damage mechanics concepts and damage accumulation models.
