Paper and Pencil based Electronic Circuits

The simplest technique of realization of a functioning electronics circuitry is perhaps using a simple paper and pencil for it. Apart from being simple and inexpensive, it is also a solvent-freetechnique and eliminates complex fabrications procedures. In this context, the authors have reported the realization of various circuit elements using pencil on paper and attempted to demonstrate the feasibility of the same towards development of flexible and wearable devices. The circuits that were implemented in this project range from simple variable resistor circuits, resistor connections in series and parallel as well as digital gates like AND/OR. Finally, implementation of paper-pencil based switches, buzzers and sensors like touch sensor have also been discussed. The results obtained in this paper imply Paper - Pencil based circuits may offer a cost-effective alternative for the development of real-world applications of the Lab-On-Chip based wearable/diagnostic devices through suitable integration of various active and passive circuit elements or sensors with the diagnostic chip.
