Efficient Hybrid Boost Converter: Enhancing Voltage Regulation for Versatile Lighting Solutions

The advent of power electronic devices has rev-olutionized the technology landscape by enhancing system efficiency and reliability. Among various applications, DC Boost converters play a crucial role in providing diverse voltage levels required by components within compact electronic circuit boards. This paper presents a novel hybrid Boost converter, which combines three distinct conversion techniques to achieve high voltage gain with low stress on semiconductor devices. The proposed converter attains a high voltage gain using a low duty cycle, making it a highly efficient solution. To validate the converter’s performance, a hardware prototype is implemented with a 9V input, delivering a 120V output at a 0.68 duty cycle with a 36W power input. In this configuration, the converter is utilized for LED dimming control, where the output voltage is regulated by adjusting the duty cycle, thus showcasing its versatility and practical applicability in various lighting applications.
