Instagram and The House of Representative of Indonesia Republic

This research came up with two studies where we analyze the difference in usage of Instagram between male and female members of the Republic of Indonesia House Representatives, then we describe the kind of image that the members mostly build to share with people on Instagram. The present study aims to describe the use of Instagram platform among the Republic of Indonesia House Representatives (DPR) members. We conducted content analysis on 132 out of 566 members of the Republic of Indonesia House Representatives posts between 01 January 2022 - 29 October 2022 on their own Instagram accounts. The result showed bothmale and female members of the Republic Indonesia House Representatives use Instagram as reporting media for professional purposes, although most members also share about their personal life. Generally, the Republic of Indonesia House Representative members are more likely show themselves as responsible figures of their duty. This study can contribute to the new media study. Not only for personal use, the findings show that social media nowadays also can beuseful for professional purposes. However, the use of social media as medium for disseminating professional information is dependent on interests, relevance, or wishes of each individual.
