Analysis of Factors Affecting Students Intention to Use Virtual Reality in Education

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing the intention to use virtual reality in education from students' perspectives. This study uses Technology-Acceptance Model (TAM) as its primary theoretical foundation, with perceived facilitating condition and perceived risk as its external variables. A total of 200 responses were gathered and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in SMARTPLS 4.0. The study found that perceived usefulness, attitude toward using, and perceived facilitating condition are the three factors that mainly influence students' intention to use virtual reality. Perceived risk was found to have no significant impact on intention to use. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use significantly impacts attitude toward using. Additionally, perceived ease of use was found to positively impact perceived usefulness. Regardless of its limitations, this study adds to the body of knowledge on virtual reality and technology acceptance by suggesting an extended TAM model and provides managerial contributions through valuable insights for virtual reality implementation in Indonesia.
