A Wideband Ultra-Low Noise Room Temperature LNA for Radio astronomy Applications

This paper presents the design of Wideband Ultra Low Noise room temperature Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) for radio astronomy applications in 500-1500 MHz frequency band. The Circuit Design, Simulation and optimization were performed using Advance Design Systems (ADS) software. The LNA is a 3-stage cascade amplifier, designed using Avago Make ATF54143E-pHEMT device. The designed amplifier has a flat gain of 40± 0.5dB and noise temperature of 40°k($\sim$0.5dB) at room temperature over the desired frequency band. The LNA is unconditionally stable with good input (Sll) and output (S22) match over the band. It has a very high dynamic range with PldB of+10dBm and TOI of +15.5dBm. With this specification it is ideal to be used in radio astronomy applications.
