Pneumonia Detection from Chest X-Ray using AlexNet Image Classification Technique

Pneumonia is a severe disease that damages the human respiratory system. Viral bacteria are considered the primary cause of Pneumonia, and professional radiotherapists must assess chest X-rays to find Pneumonia. The lack of a portable diagnostic method is the main problem for countries in controlling the rapid spread of Pneumonia. It shows the research community’s importance and needs for automated diagnostic systems. The World Health organization (WHO) states in their survey report that 2/3 of Pneumonia affected patients still need to be accessed by a radiologist. Alexnet model is proposed in this project to address these problems. The primary goal of the proposed system is detecting Pneumonia earlier using the Alexnet model. The proposed system is executed using Kaggle’s database, which contains trained and tested data. The experimental work is carried out with various performance metrics to assess the accuracy and efficiency of the Alexnet model. The obtained performance depicts that the proposed Alexnet model has attained an accuracy of 96% with 93% of precision and 98% recall.
