A Novel Siting Strategy for Automatic Commutation Device of Three-phase Imbalance

The three-phase distribution area has complex structure, and massive single-phase users are connected to the three-phase power grid unevenly, so that the phenomenon of three-phase imbalance is easy to appear. Adopting the commutation device to switch the three-phase imbalanced load can solve this problem effectively. It is a question worth studying that where to install a commutation switch to achieve the best comprehensive benefits. In this paper, a novel siting strategy model for automatic commutation device of three-phase imbalance is proposed. The model aims to minimize costs including installation costs, operation and maintenance costs of commutation device, and line losses in the distribution network. The genetic optimization algorithm is applied to solve the optimization problem. The results of the case study show that the proposed strategy is effective.
