Coordinated Stochastic Scheduling of Electric Vehicles and Distributed Renewable Energy in Power Grid

The fossil-fuel crisis and environment pollution have impelled people to pay more attention to the use of distributed renewable energy and electric vehicles. By proper controlling the charging and discharging process of EVs, it gives great opportunities to optimize the schedule of power dispatch and increase the amount of renewable energy penetration. This paper presents a coordinated stochastic scheduling model considering both distributed renewable energy and EVs. The model can obtain the maximum charging and discharging ability of EVs that can be used in the power dispatch at each schedule stage. The thermal reserve can be reduced by properly using the discharging ability of EVs. Large amounts of scenarios are generated to reflect the distributed renewable energy uncertainty and the scenario tree reduction is used to preserve the most valuable scenarios. Three control policies of EVs are proposed and compared. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can reduce the total operating cost and increase the distributed renewable energy utilization by arranging the charging and discharging process of EVs reasonably.
