Prediction of Submarine Cable Embedment Depth Based on Multi-source Data Fusion

Under the long-term influence of external incentives such as ocean current scour, human activities and geological movements, the buried depth of submarine cables is likely to change continuously. Whether the buried depth of submarine cable becomes shallow or deep, it will bring a series of serious problems. To master the real-time change of the buried depth of submarine cable can effectively avoid the external damage of submarine cable, which is beneficial to reduce the major economic losses caused by the failure of submarine cable. In this paper, the finite element method is used to build a simulation model of 35kV photoelectric composite submarine cable. The losses of metal layer and insulation layer of submarine cable are calculated according to IEC 60287 standard, and converted into heat generation rate. The organic combination of experimental measurement, theoretical analysis and numerical calculation is realized, and finally a system with the buried depth of submarine cable as the dependent variable is integrated. Cable core temperature, ambient temperature and carrying capacity are independent variables. The results show that the difference between the simulated value of cable embedment depth obtained by the finite element method and the calculated value of cable embedment depth obtained by the general formula of the relation equation is less than 0.05m, indicating that the general formula of the relation equation fitted in this paper has high reliability and accuracy, and has certain practicability. Based on the distributed optical fiber temperature sensing technology to monitor the cable core temperature, combined with environmental temperature, load capacity, convective heat transfer and soil thermal conductivity, the prediction of cable buried depth provides a new theoretical basis.
