Network Partition Method for Transient Voltage Control of the AC/DC Power System

With the development of high voltage direct current (HVDC) and the changes of load composition and characteristics, transient voltage problem presents an imminent threat to the secure and stable operation of power systems. A partition method is proposed in this paper to meet the requirement of transient voltage control of AC/DC alternating current/direct current (AC/DC) systems. Firstly, the transient voltage stability margin was defined to reflect the transient voltage characteristics of nodes, and the t-distributed random neighborhood embedding (t-SNE) algorithm is introduced to extract the crucial information of node transient voltage in multiple scenarios. Secondly, the similarity of transient voltage characteristics between nodes is evaluated by cosine similarity, the partition is realized by the affine propagation (AP) clustering algorithm, and the clustering scheme is evaluated by the contour coefficient. Finally, simulation results are shown with a modified IEEE Nordic Test System, which confirms the efficacy and superiority of the newly proposed partition method.
