Research on Control Strategy of Automatic Capacity Adjustment Transformer and Circuit Implementation

The load in the electrical power system changes regularly with seasons. The load also fluctuates will time within the same period. The distribution transformer is operated in full load, half load sometimes and even approximate no-load state. The self-loss of the transformer is higher during half-load and even lower state if the transformer rated capacity is fixed and constant, which is not conducive to system loss reduction. A transformer capacity adjustment control strategy is designed, wherein the actual working capacity of the transformer can be automatically detected, the rated capacity of the transformer can be adjusted according to the actual load capacity so that the actual output capacity of the transformer is close to the rated capacity thereof as far as possible, thereby achieving the highest working efficiency, saving energy, and increasing efficiency. The capacity adjustment control strategy of the transformer as well as hardware and software circuits thereof are designed. The reliability and practicability of the designed control strategy as well as hardware and software circuits are verified by experiments.
