Shock Wave Characteristics and Overpressure Peak Simulation of Short-circuit Arc Explosion in Highvoltage Cable Joints

A critical risk endangering the security of cable lines is the explosion of high-voltage cable joints. A short-circuit arc explosion test of the 220 kV cable joint was carried out to clarify the characteristics of explosion shock and overpressure of cable joints. The authors tested the overpressure of shock wave generated by the explosion of high-voltage cable joints in the air. The pressure characteristics of explosion shock wave were analyzed. A method was proposed to simulate the equivalent shock wave peak of the cable joint explosion. The authors obtained the peak value distribution of impact overpressure within 0.4-5 m of the explosion center. A model was created to predict the impact overpressure peak of the short-circuit arc explosion of the 220 kV cable joint. The results showed that the shock wave pressure of the cable joint explosion conformed to the attenuation characteristics of the shock wave pressure in the air domain after positive and negative pressure. The pressure time history curve of the shock wave showed oscillation characteristics as the shock wave propagation distance increased. In the test, the energy provided by the short-circuit arc to the shock wave front did not exceed 4.28 MJ, and the energy concentrated in the early growth stage of the short-circuit arc
