Numerical Modeling and Experimental Study of Hidden Minerals in Waste Rock Using Dual-Energy X-ray Image Processing

The method of dual-energy processing of X-ray images is one of the modern methods of non-destructive testing. In this work, numerical modeling and a direct experiment were carried out to determine one substance against the background of another using the dual-energy processing of X-ray images. An experimental verification of the obtained simulation results was carried out in this study. A pulsed X-ray source with the following characteristics is used in the work: the voltage in the pulse is 280 kV, the current reaches 250 A, the duration of the X-ray flash is 30 ns. The emission spectra of this X-ray source are calculated in this work. Spectrum correction due to X-ray absorbing filters has been studied. The attenuation of radiation after passing through the object under study is also studied in this work. The X-ray radiation is recorded using the VIVIX-V 2323D detector. Beryl and glimmerite are used as objects of study.
