An Attempt to Obtain a Nitrogenous Austenite Phase in the Processing of Cobalt Steel by Vacuum Ion-Plasma Nitriding

Traditional approaches to the design and manufacture of electric machines are gradually coming to their technological saturation. For this reason, it is necessary to look for other approaches to create new designs of electric machines. One of the promising solutions is the use of a dual-phase magnetic material in the design of electric machines. Previously published works has focused on silicon electrical steels. In this article, for the first time, the results of a study on obtaining a non-magnetic phase of a dual-phase magnetic material from cobalt steel are presented. According to the results obtained, no nitride compounds were found in the treated layer. Saturation induction is also significantly higher than published results on dual-phase silicon electrical steel magnetic materials.
