Transition of Electric Vehicles in Pakistan: An Analysis for PV-fed Dynamic Charging System

Electrification of transport is an optimistic approach to tackle greenhouse gas emissions due to conventional vehicles. The diffusion of Electric Vehicles (EVs) gained a breakthrough due to the Dynamic wireless charging (DWC) system by their driving range extension, reducing the size and cost of batteries. To take up EVs in a country like Pakistan, which is already facing the energy crises, lack of capital, and technological advancements, is a challenging approach. There is a need for an optimal charging infrastructure with a renewable energy source to overcome the energy need and diffusion of EVs. In this paper, we analyze the transition of EVs in Pakistan with the help of solar PV-fed charging station deployment at the motorway hierarchy of the country. The problem of land constraint for a PV system is rendered by giving the idea to use a 50m wide spare lane alongside the Motorway. The aim is to use the DWC approach by taking the PV-fed system to cuts down the supply from the national grid.
