Failure Mode Analysis and Reliability Improvement of Compressed Air Foam System

In this paper, failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) based on bayesian method is used to identify the failure modes of fixed compressed air foam system(CAFS) and key components in ultra-high voltage(UHV) converter station. Firstly, the failure mode and effect of the fixed CAFS are analyzed, and the risk priority number (RPN) is introduced to quantify the possibility and severity of the failure. For the calculation of fault occurrence frequency (O) in RPN, Bayesian estimation method is introduced for quantitative calculation. In the calculation, first convert and fuse the multiple prior information, then test the prior information and calculate the weight. The failure rate of the fixed compressed air foam fire extinguishing system and its components can be calculated by this method. It is helpful to identify the components that need to improve safety and reliability, and propose effective improvement measures for the system components.
