Modelling and Control Strategies of DC Offshore Wind Farm

The idea of a DC offshore wind farm is considered as one of the future development trends in the filed of wind power. Following an analysis of the potential topologies for DC offshore wind farms, a solution with electrical isolation and self-starting capabilities is proposed. The designed topologies for a DC wind turbine, a medium-voltage DC/DC converter, and a high-voltage DC/DC converter are introduced, together with the related steady-state control strategies. The efficiency of the proposed topologies and control schemes is confirmed by the simulation results.
