Security Region-Based Time Series Production Simulation of Renewable Energy Power Grids

Improving renewable energy generation penetration is a tough challenge for transmission grid planning. The time-series production simulation is a common method for renewable energy consumption. However, this method is not effective in solving nonlinear operational constraints. Therefore, a modified time series production simulation model is established by using the security region (SR) method. Based on the sensitivity method, this paper derives the linear SR expressions, which meet the power flow constraints. Then, a modified time-series production simulation method is proposed based on SR. Besides, a crucial time section selection strategy is proposed based on the iterative method, which can accelerate the solving speed of the established production simulation model. Simulation results for the IEEE 30 transmission grid are used to verify the accuracy of the proposed method.
