A Review of Optimal Operation of Integrated Energy System Including PtG System

The traditional energy system has been changed with the proposal of the "double carbon" goals in China. With the energy technology revolution, the integrated energy system(IES) has received more attention due to its ability to utilize multiple types of energy. Meanwhile, the integrated energy system provides ideas for improving energy efficiency, complementing multiple energies, and building an environment-friendly sustainable energy system. The power-to-gas (PtG) system is an important component of the IES, and research is focused on the optimal operation of the power and gas coupling system. The PtG system technology achieved the energy transformation between different energy forms, and it will couple the power and gas systems to improve the energy utilization efficiency and provide ideas for large-scale storage of electricity. Firstly, this paper introduced the characteristics of the PtG system technology. Secondly, the general topology and modeling methods of the IES which includes the PtG system have been illustrated. After that, the optimal operation and solution methods in different scenarios of the IES have been summarized. Finally, the key issues are summarized and the future outlook is proposed.
