The simulation of groundwater flow in fractured medium of Dazu Rock Carvings with a DFN model

Based on the exploration of the physical geography and hydrogeological conditions of the Beishan rock carvings area, the historical and existing water seepage diseases were investigated and analysed. According to the occurrence frequency, occurrence location and preservation status, the water seepage diseases were classified and the causes of water seepage diseases were analysed. The hydraulic characteristics and boundary conditions are generalized according to the range of seepage recharge and regional hydrogeological conditions, and the hydrogeological conceptual model is established. A 3-D numerical simulation of seepage through a discrete fracture network was carried out in caves 176, 177 and 180 in Beishan by using the numerical simulation software DFNworks. There are 6 weak intercalations and 24 structural fractures in Beishan, in which the hydraulic head and velocity in the structural fractures are large, while the hydraulic head and velocity in the weak intercalations are small.
