Truncated corner and slotted wearable textile multiband antenna for wireless

Wearable antennas perform important role in WBAN (Wireless Body Area Network). Wearable antennas can be embedded in garments, implanted in the user’s body and even tattooed on the skin. In this research paper, the textilebased multiband antenna is proposed for wearable applications. The proposed multiband antenna is designed on flexible substrate using cotton material and operates over frequencies 5. 6GHz, 7.4GHz and 9. 0GHz. Also, the top patch and bottom ground plane of the proposed antenna is designed using conducting silver shield material. The most important considerations for wearable antenna design is its portable size, gain, bandwidth, flexibility, and its biocompatibility with the human body. Here, the designed antenna is compact with dimensions of 50 x60x2 mm3. Also, the designed antenna exhibits appreciable reflection coefficient values of -24.70dB, - 21.14dB & -35.48dB at 5. 6GHz, 7. 4GHz and 9. 0GHz respectively. Also, the designed antenna has good performance with a gain of 6. 76dBi, 6.19dBi & 4. 47dBi, bandwidth of 556MHz, 636MHz & 682MHz and good flexibility. Moreover, it is observed that the simulated antenna with using silver shielded material exhibits better voltage standing wave ratio, surface distribution current and radiation efficiency. The prototype antenna is fabricated and measurement results are achieved at resonant frequencies of 6. 0GHz, 7.2GHz and 8. 8GHz with reflection coefficients -20.26dB -15.62dB and 18. 90dB. The proposed multiband wearable antenna is suitable for Wi-Fi, Radio altimeters, 5G and Satellite applications.
