A DC-DC Boost Converter using PWM with 65%efficiency

Energy harvesting is the technique of transforming energy into usable electrical energy. In order to attain larger voltages battery-powered devices are frequently arranged in series of cells; however, due to space constraints this is not a practical solution.The proposed circuit increases the voltage from 80 mV input up to 1 V output.The MOSFETs in the boost converter require dutycycled clock for switching on and off, and thus there is a need to generate clock and a Ring oscillator is used for this purpose. A high frequency signal is produced at the Ring Oscillator’s output and then the output of the ring oscillator is given to the frequency divider. The frequency divider divides the high frequency and generates 750 kHz at the output. Then the output of the frequency divider is given to the comparator as input and the output obtained from the comparator is a 60% duty cycled PWM signal which is used to drive the transistor of the boost converter.The final 0 utput ist aken f rom t he DC-DC Boost Converter which is approximately 1V. All the circuits are simulated using Cadence virtuoso 180nm CMOS technology.
