Sensor-Based Open Channel Blockage Detection System

Traditional method of drainage cleaning takes place manually. With manual process, the road side drains get cleaned for once in two months. This irregular cleaning of drains leads to blockage of drainages and effecting people’s lives severely. According to the information about the international distribution of open drains, if the drains are left unchecked, they become a health hazard to the neighbouring people as they become a breeding ground for disease-causing parasites and other microorganisms. And when the rainy season begins, the unclean drains can rapidly spread waterborne diseases and infections. Also, the gutter system gets clogged due to heavy rains. So, the water will flow over the side of the gutters which results in traffic and road accidents. The main problem here is the information is not sent to the higher authorities whether the drains are regularly cleaned or not. To eradicate this condition, the status is sent to the higher authorities like these drains are not cleaned well and these should be cleaned. Though this information, they can contact the worker and make them to clean the drains. This continuous cleaning of drains makes the humans lives much easier and safe. So, the occurrence of insect infected diseases to the residents, rain water blockage on the roads will be diminished.
