5G UE Simulation

With every progressing generational change we are witnessing massive improvements in the infrastructure associated with the communication equipment, better coverage area cell structure, better data rate and spectral efficiency etc. With these metrics in mind, developments in 5G wireless communication architecture are underway. As of now tangible physical equipment's like the UE - User Equipment and RAN - Radio Access Network aren't completely constructed. Hence, we aim to simulate these essential 5G components using software models. We intend to use free open-source software like free5gc, UERansim to develop the 5G core, UE and RAN tower. The system will be formulated into 3 virtual machines and network parameters will be configured in accordance to our testing requirements using text editor VIM. We look to evaluate key network metrics on a packet-level that helps us analyze the necessary changes required to be made for achieving seamless 5G connectivity. Uplink transmission i.e transmission of packets from source to destination and downlink transmission i.e reception of packets in destination from the source are evaluated. We hereby also calculate the number of packets lost in transmission so that necessary steps can be taken to send the data forward again. Using all the above metrics we finally calculate the flow rate and bit error rate in the process of sending data. Once all the important networks metrics are evaluated, we can analyze and desire to achieve the ideal 5G communication system which provides us with fast data rate and great spectral efficiency.
