Semantic Model for IoT-Enabled Smart Healthcare ‒ An Ontology-based Study

Healthcare remains an important priority in a smart campus. College and university students often face a number of health issues. With the advent of IoT, health systems have turned into smart healthcare where the systems have a notion of intelligence. Several systems exist for the campus community such as smart classroom, smart canteen, smart library and smart parking among others. To promote sharing and integration of data between these heterogeneous systems, it is essential that data be represented in formal ways. This study thus proposes a semantic model in the form of an ontology for IoT - enabled smart healthcare in a university campus, with the aim of solving semantic interoperability issues, facilitating information exchange between different systems on a smart campus and generating intelligent recommendations.
