Towards the Era of Intelligence: How does Artificial Intelligence (AI) Enable China’s Export Competitiveness?

Based on Tianyancha’s data and the provincial macro data in China’s statistical yearbook from 2005 to 2017, we investigate the impact of Artificial intelligence (AI) on export competitiveness by using the two-way fixed effect model and SYS-GMM intermediary test method. From the perspectives of labor cost and R & D innovation, the potential mechanism of AI on export competitiveness is also captured. Furthermore, contrary to the inland and western areas, the effects of AI on export competitiveness are found more obvious in the coastal, central and eastern areas. Our research has important guiding significance for the intelligent transformation of China’s industry and improving the quality of export products.
