Abstract:
Indonesia adopts two methods of capturing population data. First, by population census using data sampling technique by Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The second method is from the population data recording performed by individual residents. The latter is obtained when applying for their population identifications and Family Registration Card in the Population and Civil Registration Office using SIAK (Sistem Informasi Administrasi Kependudukan) or Population Administration Information System portal. Different data collection poses the potential risk of data discrepancy in the two institutions. It can lead to a more severe issue on the validity and accuracy of the population data. Additionally, the dissemination of population information remains centralized in the portals of both institutions. But these portals are not without limitations. Its dull visual formats in tables containing numbers are prone to data discrepancies and, in turn, may affect its reliability as perceived by the public. Based on these issues, the proposal as a solution is to develop a Web-GIS that integrates, visualize, map, and disseminate population data. WebGIS is created by using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method to accelerate the development time, which is only 11 weeks/75 days, which helps minimize the cost and productivity resources.
