A Survey On Deep Learning Approaches for Real-Time License Plate, Vehicle Type and Face Recognition

Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) is an image processing technology employed to identify vehicles by their license plates involving several steps such as detection, pre-processing, segmentation and recognition. Vehicle Type Classification (VTC) is very important in transport management systems, especially in real-time environment conditions. Classification and counting each vehicles type is still a challenge. Face recognition is the most trustworthy method in biometric identification and the most up-and-coming technology for security and password systems as it can detect the user with a minimum level of interaction. This study explores the approaches and methods used in ALPR systems, VTC systems, and Face Recognition systems, mainly focusing on Deep Learning techniques. Further, we analyze and discuss the related research to learn the best technologies to implement these systems with higher accuracy and performance.
