Design and Evaluation of Peanut Harvesting Machine based Dual Spiral Coupling Electric Motor Drives

This paper proposes a peanut harvesting machine based on dual spiral coupling an electric motor drives and its performance when compared to the human harvesting. The proposed machine had function to pick up the peanut pods from their stems by using dual special coupling mechanical part driven by just a single-phase electric motor. The test results showed that the proposed machine could harvest the peanuts with the average productivity of 258 pods per minute or 15,480 pods per hour at its nominal speed, which was approximately 2.7 times faster than the human.
