Performance Characteristics of the Battery and its Management System

To monitor and control the charging as well as discharging of the rechargeable batteries battery management is required, a Battery Management system is employed which electronically regulates these processes. It gives a hold onto the storage system and also gives protection to the battery when it is operated beyond its limits by authenticating and balancing hazardous situations. Due to the rapid rise in the interest in electric and hybrid vehicles, the system is set up in an automobile for long-lasting cycle life and lower self-discharge. The state of the battery can also be determined by its performance characteristics and it helps in calculating the energy delivered in the system. the purpose, function, and performance of a battery for an electric vehicle are discussed in detail. In the previous studies, the concept of the battery along with the hardware system for an electric vehicle. The tasks like voltage sampling and current sampling of the battery can be performed by Battery Management System. In this paper, the need for a Battery management system and features of battery characteristics with its applications have been discussed.
