Variable Frequency Three Phase Current Source Inverter with Prescribed Current Waveforms

In this note, the authors report a method of obtaining prescribed three phase current waveforms using a current source inverter. A completely digital method, employing EPROM s, is used to generate the desired reference waveform. A transistorized chopper - thyristorized three phase current source inverter is used for the power conversion stage. The conditions for obtaining symmetrical three phase nearly sinusoidal current waveforms are demonstrated.
