Research on Structure Optimization of Cold Dielectric High-Temperature Superconducting Cables

High temperature superconducting (HTS) cable offers the advantages of large transmission capacity, low loss, and environmental friendliness compared to traditional cables. This paper proposes the mathematical model of cold insulated HTS cable. The inner diameter, winding angle, and winding direction of each layer are taken as the optimization variables. The particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to optimize the structure of the cold dielectric HTS cable to achieve the objective of the uniform current distribution. The results show that the current proportion of each layer of the conductor layer is close, and the maximum unbalance rate is less than 1.5 %, while that of the shielding layer is less than 1.2 %. Moreover, the winding direction has little effect on each layer and total inductance. Using n=2, m=2, and n=4, m=2, the species of winding directions can be reduced to 2, which is the key to lowering optimization time.
