Development of Environmentally Friendly and Efficient New Energy Rail Locomotives for Industrial and Mining Enterprises

Diesel locomotive has the problems of high operation cost, serious pollution and high noise, thus an environmentally friendly and efficient new energy rail locomotive is studied in this paper, which can be applied to internal transportation in industrial and mining enterprises. Key parameters design methods for multi scene application are proposed, including locomotive adhesion weight, power and capacity of battery system, starting and continuous traction, motor parameters. Besides, system integration of rail locomotive is presents, which includes motor control unit, locomotive control unit, battery and BMS management system as well as traction motor. Furthermore, experiments are carried out on the new rechargeable rail locomotive, which has been put into operation in Nanjing Iron & Steel Untied Co., Ltd. The results have proved that the track electric locomotive can operate well under different working conditions. Compared with the diesel locomotive, it saves the fuel cost greatly and has higher economic benefits.
