Low-Carbon Economic Dispatch of VRE/Hydro/Thermal Hybrid Energy System Considering Uncertainty of VRE Based on a Novel Multi-objective Algorithm

Low-carbon economic dispatch (LCED) and utilizing variable renewable energy (VRE) are the essential means to combat climate change and achieve carbon neutrality, whereas the problem of LCED for hybrid energy systems integrated VRE is multi-objective, high-dimensional and non-convex. Moreover, the uncertainty of VRE also enhances the complexity of LCED. Based on the status and trend of energy development, this study constructs a LCED model of wind/photovoltaic/hydro/thermal hybrid energy system (WPHTHES) considering the uncertainty of VRE. Meanwhile, proposing a scenario assessment method to evaluate the impact of VRE uncertainty on economy and carbon emission. Then, designing a multi-objective African vulture optimization algorithm for solving the problem of LCED. Finally, two cases are adopted to quantitatively analyze the performance of this algorithm and the impact of VRE uncertainty. The results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than three competitive algorithms given in published literature. Moreover, the operation cost and carbon emission will raise with the increase of uncertainty ranges.
