Calculation for Minimum Inertia of Power System Based on Improved GWO Algorithm

As the proportion of renewable energy gradually increases, the rotational inertia level of the system is weakened and the frequency fluctuation characteristics of the system are affected. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain the threshold of inertia required for the safety and stability of the system frequency. Considering generator power regulation dynamics, dead zone and power saturation, a detail system frequency response model is proposed in this paper. Based on this, the system frequency dynamics is numerically calculated according to trapezoidal integral principle. Based on the above frequency calculation, an optimization model about minimum inertia is proposed considering renewable energy plants. And then the improved GWO algorithm based on Levy flight principle is brought up to solve this problem. Finally, a modified IEEE 10-machine 39-node system is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
