Constraint Handling Method for Improving Solution Efficiency of Electricity Market Model

Considering that the unit ramping constraints are the sole cause for period coupling, this paper proposes a constraint handling method for improving the solution efficiency of electricity market model. First, by relaxing the decoupling period of unit ramping constraints, an optimal relaxation solution can be obtained quickly for each period by parallel computing. Then, the optimal relaxation solution is analyzed to find out useful information that can guide the subsequent full model solution, and adjust the optimization model by removing and adding constraints, thus improving the solution performance of optimization clearing model of large-scale electricity market. The standard examples and practical examples are tested respectively, and the results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the computational efficiency of electricity market optimization clearing model.
