High-Performance Computing Based on Residue Number System: A Review

The speed of arithmetic operation is associated with the quantity of the numbers involved. Residue Number System (RNS) is used to characterize a more significant numeral using a cluster of minor magnitude. So, the computation can be more efficient. Computer arithmetic engineers are attracted by this feature. However, residue to binary conversion requires a large size of modulo number computation. But still, RNS performs computations by decomposing significant calculations into smaller calculations with parallel manner, and it will be utilized in digital component computation area. Thus, the digital signal processor is harnessing the residue system to achieve ultra-speed and real-time applications which allows parallel processing of the integer data. This paper has been discussed the importance of Residue Number System and demonstrates various types of residue-to-binary converters with mathematical analysis. Moreover, it explained the challenges and future research scope of RNS. This paper is specially originated for the Residue code researchers at the beginning level.
