Abstract:

Internet Protocol, abbreviated as IP, which is a network layer protocol that keeps the Internet together. It was set up from the ground up with internetworking in mind, unlike most other network-layer protocols. The main goal is to offer a best-effort method of transporting datagrams from the source to the network's destination. IPv4 is the most commonly used form of IP, and it is an ancient and extensively used protocol on the Internet. Despite the constantly provided add-on solutions to IPv4, it appears that IPv4 cannot keep up with the recent tremendously expanding unit of internet connected devices and the escalating routing complexity. In this paper address, the role of IP addresses and highlights the adoption of IPv4 with the comparative study between IPv6 Vs IPv4. This study also explains the various application of IPv6 in the field of IoT domain as well as various security issues related to IPv4 & IPv6.
