Real-time Location Tracking Shoe using Piezoelectric Sensors

Piezoelectric sensor is a great invention that has numerous applications, and one of them is to convert mechanical stress to electrical energy. In our proposed system, piezoelectric sensors are placed in the heel area of the shoes to capture the foot impressions of people as they walk or run. The mechanical stress created by these impressions is then converted into electrical energy, which is stored in a battery for later use. The stored energy can then be utilized to power various sensors and devices, which are operated by an Arduino Nano microcontroller. These sensors can track the wearer's location and movements, and display the data on the OLED display or send it to the wearer's friends or family, in case of an emergency. The GPS module is being used for location tracking and a SIM800L module is integrated with the circuit for sending it to the wearer's relative's smartphone. An SMS containing a trigger keyword, sent from the wearer's relative's smartphone to a SIM card inserted in the shoe, acts as a trigger for the smart shoe. As soon as the device present in the shoe is triggered, the location of the wearer is captured and converted into a proper google maps hyperlink and sent to the remote smartphone. Moreover, our system promotes the use of sustainable energy by harnessing the energy produced by the movement of people. It will cheer up people to walk or run more often, knowing that they are contributing to sustainable and clean energy.
